Embalsamados (Taxidermied Pieces)
The exposed animals are the result of 30 years of uninterrrupted hunting and they are the product of an exhaustive selection of the best trophies of a legendary hunter. You can find Axis and Red deers, Damas, black antelopes, wild pigs (boars) and wild goats. These animals were hunted strictly following the conservationist reglamentations of the Republic of Argentina...
The Axis deer and the Dama are found in different areas. The first one lives in the woods of the South of the Province of Buenos Aires and the second one in the Sierra de la Ventana also in Bs As, or in the Province of Río Negro. The hunting takes place at short or long distances depending on the characteristics of the region. The calibres used were the 7.62 and the 7mm Magnum.
This is the wild boar, an omnivore animal that inhabits the Patagonia. Its presence is disliked in the region since it feeds on cattle and plantations. They have small eyes of short range but they count on their well developed hearing and olfactory sense.
Finally, the antelope lives in plain regions and open spaces that make this hunting particularly complicated given that the animal has a very good sight. It requires long distance shots of about 200 -300m and the calibre used is 243mm, 270mm or 7mm Magnum.
Cornamentas (Antlers and Horns)
Most of these species are exotic, this means that they were imported to Argentina the first decades of th 20th Century. For example the well known farmer Aarón de Anchorena introduced the Axis Deer and the antilope from India and the Red Deer together with the wild pig form Central Europe to decorate parks and farms. In this historic context it is important to remark that the First World War had favoured economically Argentina and hence the agro-sector producers found themselves in strong positions to enjoy from certain pleasures...
The Red Deer (photo of the right) is the trophy of excellence due to the complexity of its hunting, it lives in places of extreme beauty such as the province of La Pampa and the Patagonia. The hunting is at short distances due to the hostile area where it takes place. The ideal calibres employed are the calibre 7.62 and the 7mm Magnum.
